You need permission to access this published document - Solved

If you are using G Suite and experiencing following error, we’ll solve it in this article.

Error-:You need permission to access this published document.

You are signed in as email@yourdomain.com, but you don’t have permission to access this published document. You may need to sign in as a different user.

Why this error?

You get this error because your company’s G Suite Administrator has NOT enabled receiving files from outside.

Which means even if you try to access a publicly available Google document or sheet of slide such as example sheet on this G Suite support page you’ll still get error.

Solution

You will need to change Drive sharing setting in your G Suite Admin Console and allow receiving files from outside.

You can do that for all of your users or for some specific ones based on organization unit.

I have put step by step instructions below with the screenshots.

Step 1

Login to your G Suite Admin Console as shown in the video.

Note -: If you Not a super or delegated G Suite Admin, you’ll need to them to change this setting as it needs access to G Suite control panel.

Step 2

Go to Google Drive Share Settings.

Path –> Admin Console –> Click on Apps –> Click on Google Drive –> Click on Sharing Settings
