Bulk Export Gmail Labels with Labels Manager

How to bulk export Gmail labels with the Labels Manager for Gmail add-on

Bulk exporting the Gmail labels can be very useful. It gives you a bird’s eye view of all the labels – the names of all the labels that you have created, their individual label IDs, how many emails belong to individual labels, and such.

Pro tipYou can also use the exported information to bulk update and bulk replace existing labels – writing the needed information manually will take lots of time so you can simply copy/paste information from this section.

1 Select the “3. Export Labels” worksheet.

All the column headers in the export labels worksheet

I have arranged the screenshot of the column headers in such a manner that you can see all the columns in the worksheet without excessive horizontal scrolling.

As you can see, this worksheet will save every possible information about individual Gmail labels.

You can export just label names and label IDs, but we will come to that later.

2 Run the “Export Labels” module using the following command path: Add-ons >> Labels Manager for Gmail >> 3. Export Labels >> Export Labels

Executing the export labels module

The “Export Labels” module takes a bit longer to execute because it exports every possible information belonging to individual Gmail labels.

All be exported Gmail labels information

All the information will be exported in the add-on’s spreadsheet.

Now, what if you don’t need all this information? If you export everything, it may take lots of time and it may even run out of execution time if there are thousands of emails organized under hundreds of Gmail labels.

Another module, “Export Labels (Light)” allows you to export just label names and label IDs.

This is the command path for that:

Add-ons >> Labels Manager for Gmail >> 3. Export Labels >> Export Labels (Light)

Executing the lighter version of the export labels module
Gmail label names and level IDs are exported

As you can see, this time only label names and level IDs are exported.

This is a preferred way of exporting Gmail labels if you just need these two bits of information.
